South Pacific Honeymoons
When couples dream of a honeymoon, many imagine the waters and beaches of the South Pacific. This is truly a honeymoon paradise. It is a place to escape the world to a calm atmosphere where relaxing, sun-bathing, watersports and dining are the primary goals. Many island chains are included in the South Pacific, such as French Polynesia, often referred to as Tahiti, Fiji Islands, Cook Islands, Tonga, Samoa, New Zealand, and Australia.
The South Pacific is truly a honeymoon paradise!
The two main destinations newlyweds seek are French Polynesia and Fiji. Both sets of islands have many resorts from which to choose. The more private and remote a resort or island is, the more expense it will be.
Best Islands ~ Amoung the hundreds of islands in French Polynesia, some of the most beautiful islands include Bora Bora, Yasawa Islands, Aitutaki, Moorea, Qamea and Rarotonga.
Snorkeling and scuba diving ~ The South Pacific has an abundance of fantastic snorkeling and diving locations. Fiji is famous for having the most colorful coral in the world and mixed with the diverse sea life, you can't go wrong with snorkeling in Fiji. French Polynesia also has a lot of great locations, including Fakarava, Rangiroa and Manihi.
Golf ~ The South Pacific doesn't have the golf facilities like many honeymoon destinations, but there are several golf courses around the South Pacific where you can play. Fiji's Denarau Golf and Raquet Club and Tahiti's Atimaono Golf Course are probably the only courses worth your time!
Spas ~ For all those couples who want to unwind after the wedding chaos at the fantastic spas, here are some of the luxury spas:
Nightlife ~ If your looking for great nightlife, the South Pacific is not the best destination to choose. Most hotels have some sort of island entertainment that consists of food and a traditional dancing show. This is a wonderful evening to experience on your honeymoon, as they will often point out that you're newlyweds and maybe even pull you up on stage. Only a few, larger hotels also offer bars or clubs. There are bars and clubs in the larger cities and are aimed towards locals, which can make for a good evening. These venues tend to be more happening on Fridays and Saturdays, so if you want to go bar-hoping, wait until the weekend!
Best South Pacific Honeymoon Resorts ~ The common images that couples have when they think of the South Pacific are those of the over-the-water bungalows of French Polynesia. While those suites and private island resorts are plentiful, they also come with a higher price tag. Enjoy the best if you can afford it and if not, there are still plenty of resorts that are more affordable and offer a lot. Here are some of the most popular resorts:
