Honeymoon Reviews

Tikehau Pearl Beach Resort is so remote and gorgeous!

07/26/2006   What a setting, and how secluded can you get! The main island of Tikehau is only 400 people, no doctor, no police, and 1 store, 1 restaurant, 1 snack bar, 1 of everything but 4 churches! The resort is reached again, by boat, and is on its own separate island, and that’s all there is! Here we stayed in an OWB. Wow! Luxurious—glass in the floor, walk down to the water, flowers on the bed when we arrived, as well as a fruit basket. Turn down service every night and legends on the pillow every night. There was no AC in this bungalow-but, we didn’t need it b/c of the winds-we left our door open to the back terrace and we got the best breeze ever while sleeping! We again had problems w/ our hot water-they tried to tell us it was b/c everyone was showering (there are only a limited # of bungalows on the resort though!) and ours was at the end of the bungalows. We didn’t take no for an answer, and finally got a free dinner (but not much more hot water). This was very frustrating, and they tried to fix it, but the people are so nice it was hard to get upset! However, at a luxury resort such as this, I expect hot water! The activities desk is great-whatever they can do, they do it! More on activities below. The food here was great for the most part. They had a coconut show one night and the next a happy hour. The lunch menu was to die for! Very expanded w/ lots of choices and everything was great. The dinner menu left something to be desired, w/ a limited menu, especially compared to the lunch menu. However, the dinners were great, as were the desserts. The breakfasts were not good at all-not much choice and the fruit, again, was covered in bugs. However, the service was fantastic all-around, and this was by far the most relaxing part of our trip!
