Honeymoon Reviews

Peace and Quiet

07/18/2006   We stayed at the honeymoon suite, one of 3 on site. I would highly recommend any of the 3 as they are very private, very quiet, and very romantic. Every morning you can wake up and without leaving the bed have a full view of the ocean through the backdoors. The resort is small so the crowds and noise are kept to a minimum. Breakfast every morning is outdoors and consists of fresh squeezed juices and the best Blue Mountain coffee. The breeze coming in from the ocean makes the first meal of the day that much better. Swimming and snorkeling is average. Most of the resort is built over rock outcroppings so don't expect to walk out and stroll along a long, deserted beach at any time. A small beach is less than 100 yards from the resort though and is ample for basic beach combing. The locals are extremely nice and the staff is more than accomodating. We chose Jakes in the interest of staying away from the crowds and away from the gated, all-inclusives. We wanted a quiet, private, out-of-the-way resort where we could spend as much alone time as possible. We got it at Jakes. If you want to constantly be on the go, and have access to all kinds of activities, along with loud music and drinking, then Jakes is NOT for you. Jakes has a very small bar which is absolutely great and you won't need to elbow in between a bunch of rowdy drunks to get a drink. As a result of it's location, you will not have a constant bombardment from locals to buy things which was vey nice. To break up the monotony, Jakes offers several excursions which are fun but truth be told, we ended up missing the monotony. It's almost fun to be bored at Jakes. No phones, no clocks, and no TV. Just each other. A perfect honeymoon!!
