Resort Description & Special Packages
On Kauai’s spectacular north shore, past the charming little town of Hanalei, the road narrows to two lanes and winds its way for several miles to a glorious end at Ke`e Beach. It’s a magnificent journey, bordered on one side by emerald mountains and shimmering waterfalls, on the other side by stretches of white sand and aquamarine seas. Travelers cross a series of picturesque one-lane bridges as they continue towards the end of the road, transported into an area of pristine natural beauty: Ha’ena.
Here you’ll find Hanalei Colony Resort, an intimate hideaway nestled on a long curve of secluded beach against a backdrop of lush mountains. It would be hard to imagine a more romantic place than this. The five-acre, low-rise property offers 48 two-bedroom condominium units with fully equipped kitchens and private lanais, all with sweeping views of Hanalei Bay or towering mountains. The beach is quite literally at your doorstep.
The resort prides itself on its remote location and peaceful ambiance. Its units do not have televisions, stereos, or phones, so there is nothing to distract you from enjoying long walks on the beach, leisurely mornings, stunning sunsets, and each other.
Hanalei Colony’s slogan is “Unspoiled...Unplugged...Unforgettable...,” and it truly is all that and more. It offers privacy, personal service and a spectacular setting--with none of the “hustle-bustle” of larger resorts. The perfect place for a honeymoon, and—with its full-time on-staff wedding coordinator—the ideal spot to exchange vows in paradise.
Testimonials:
In particular, I want to say a special thank you to Nancy for helping make our wedding unique and memorable. We really appreciated all the effort that you went to to make sure we were well taken care of and stress-free while we were at the resort as well.
Thank you so much for helping me get my wedding dress home safely and even offering to drive it down to the airport – you were so sweet. Thank you to Cissie for making our kids feel at home…we had such a wonderful time. And thanks to the bartender (don’t know his name) that made us laugh.

It is a beautiful setting. The beaches are clean, very few people and all of the hiking, snorkelling, gardens, activies available to people staying there was wonderful. Honeymooners from BC, Canada

Our wedding coordinator, Nancy, was amazing. Without a doubt, she made the wedding arrangements that I would have made myself if I had the expertise and connections that only a local person could in arranging a destination wedding. She understood perfectly how to make our wedding personal to our own taste, and when we made some last minute adjustments, she made it happen. Kudos to her for a lovely job! All of the staff at the resort were helpful and accomodating with any requests that we made with regard to housekeeping and anything to do with our wedding. Although HCR is slightly isolated being about 10-15 minute drive from the nearest town of Hanalei, we felt that this was the best part of our stay...getting away from it all. No phones, no TV, no internet - at first our two young children looked like fish out of water, but we all came to realize that this is exactly how you should experience Kauai. There is too much to do here without the distractions of the outside world. I would recommend in a heartbeat to stay at HCR if you are having a small personal wedding or if you just want to get away from it all...but bring your cell phone if you need to stay in touch with people...

Beautiful location, very romantic. We had our wedding right on the beach and it was very private. Wonderful staff, very helpful with everything.

This Resort is on the old side, but they are renovating the buildings one at a time. We had no complaints whatsoever, as long as you know that this place is ideal for really getting away. There is no TV and no radio or AC. Your room is cooled off by the trade winds, and the sounds of the waves are incredible, the view is incredible, and we loved every second spent at this resort. Am dying to go back once the place is upgraded, but everything was in working order and clean. We want to go back so badly and will stay here again!!!!!!

Hanalei Colony Resort is a good place to get away and spend quality time. The don't have TV's or internet in the room so your not tempted to use them every 5 minutes but they do have access to both in their restaurant if you really need it. Beautiful scenery was all around and it was just minutes from some pretty demanding hiking trails. You definately need to rent a car in Kauai but it is very easy to get around because there are only a few roads.

The resort Wedding Planner (Nancy) made this a very easy experience. She obtained the perfect minister (Hawaiian Non-Denominational), arranged for obtaining the wedding license. The pricing was very reasonable and she didn't try to push any extras on us. We were both extremely happy with our entire wedding experience.

Kauai in general was a wonderful, relaxing, beautiful honeymoon destination with lots of activities, sightseeing, beaches and places to just suspend reality for a short period of time. Hanalei Colony Resort was beautiful and secluded. The new restaurant on site is staffed by wonderful people and great chefs. We had the best fresh fish on the island at this restaurant. Everywhere you go on this resort, you cannot escape the sound or sight of the ocean. It is just down the road from some of the most beatiful beaches on Kauai which have great snorkeling, swimming and sunsets and Limahuli tropical gardens. The bed in our room was our only complaint. We also did not enjoy the couples massage provided in our honeymoon package ~ the people made us feel very uncomfortable and somewhat unwelcome. Everyone else was just a friendly and helpful as could be. We definately reccomend not getting a sports car for the island as many of the roads are winding and narrow.
