Getting to Ocho Rios was an eye opener to say the least. The 'freeway' was under construction for a good part and we played 'chicken' with oncoming traffic way too often, but it made the car trip a lot more entertaining. Once we got there our stay at Couples in Ocho Rios was wonderful. Both the other guest and the staff there were amazing! The staff was super friendly; a lot of them remembered our names and took time to get to know us. Some of the staff members invited us to watch their soccer game (which my husband loved!). A couple of the staff members humored my husband and another couple by playing volleyball for almost 3 hours, my husband and I really enjoyed that. There was always something to do and plenty of food (although by the second week we were really tired of jerk seasoning). Even when the weather wasn't pleasant it was still beautiful and the staff managed to keep us entertained. I wish people were more encourage to visit their gardens and bird area, it was lovely and the birds enjoyed the attention. If you do go to Ocho Rios I strongly recommend going on the outings, like visiting Bob Marley's place. Just the drive alone is worth it. We saw a lot of the country side and other things we wouldn't have seen just sticking to the resort and city. Dunn's river and the horseback trips were a ton of fun and again you get to see the beauty of Jamaica. Everyone was nice everywhere we went, it didn't matter if we were just walking down the street. We recommend going to Couples Ocho Rios to everyone we talk to, we can’t wait to see Ocho Rios again!

The people were so wonderful. The place was lovely. There were so many things to do. We plan on going back just to see the people again. The only real downer was we got sick of jamacan jerk real quick. And the plumming was backed up a couple of times.

The people there were wonderful. The food was good, and we were never bored. Even when it rained they provided plenty of entertainment. We will definitely go back there someday. Our only complaints were the hotel couldn't get there internet to come online and stay online and the t.v channels were always a hit or miss. And it seemed like they had a problem with their sewage. It backup twice when we were there. Overall though, the people were wonderful and the place was a dream! If you do go to ocho rios visit the birds, they look starved for attention.....

I would recommend this resort to anyone. I don't have a single complaint small or large. We are actually going back for our 1st anniversary. The price and value were excellent, the dining and staff were fabulous. Everything was excellent!

Oh my, what a long wonderful trip it has been. There is no way to put into words how wonderful our trip to Jamaica and Couples Ocho Rios has been. We booked the Couples Secret Rendevous for 5 nights which was cheaper than any other trip I had found in Mexico or the Caribbean and it was booked about 5 days before we left. We were told we’d be staying at the COR. I will try to evaluate for you the individual aspects of the resort, but first will summarize the experience. I will preface by saying this was my and my husband’s first all-inclusive resort and first time out of the country besides Canada. We have travelled within the United States and Canada and have stayed at many various hotels from mediocre to luxury. In saying that, the minute we arrived at the resort we let out a sigh of relief. Your first impression is the beautiful open-air lobby and the sweet fragrance that we always smelled while in Jamaica. It really does give you a 50’s Hollywood feel. We are greeted by the woman who is working the front desk offering us a cold towel after our 2 hour and 20 minute journey. (The journey kept me somewhat anxious as I have never been somewhere where you drive on the left and the roads are much more narrow than in the US and the drivers much more daring, but you get used to it). She brings our group from the bus to have a seat in the lobby and the bellman has already very cheerfully taken our bags. He has also asked us if we’d like champagne or a beverage. My husband ordered a pina colada and he went to the bar to get him one-very nice first impression. So he sipped on the pina colada while she took our information and explained our welcome packet. This all took about 10 minutes and we went to our room. We booked through Funjet who had let Couples know that it was our honeymoon (although we were married 5 months prior) they had a bucket of ice with a bottle of champagne and glasses waiting for us and also a tray of cheese and crackers-delicious I might add! We were in heaven at this point. We arrived on a Monday night which is Beach Party night-a large buffet on the beach with entertainment. Very nice, but really really humid in Jamaica – duh – so we did not stay long, but the entertainment was quality. Tipping- First I just want to let you all know that although you need no tips for the resort itself, bring about $25 - $50 in ones for tipping the bus driver to and from the airport, and the bus drivers for the excursions are not Couples employees and are tipped as well. Furthermore, you may see some photo opps with locals that would like to be tipped for as well. Rooms- Our room was beautiful and I will upload a pic to show you. We did not pay extra for an ocean view room and I don’t even think it is offered with the secret package. Nonetheless, our room had a pretty view of the front garden of the resort and the fountain below. We stayed on the second floor in room 203. The room was very large and felt very homey. The bathroom was a nice size with a normal size tub. The closet is quite large-maybe for a dressing area. There are about 20 hangers inside and a safe which they give you your own lock and key for. There is a desk and a dresser with a small TV on top. They get maybe 20 channels and ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN. This kept us up to date with home. There is a nightstand. The balcony is really large with two chairs and a small table. Very cute. Only thing to advise about the room is that there were a lot of ants. The ants are not like we have here, but very very tiny and if the room were carpeted you would never see them. Anyway, there didn’t seem to be any apparent reason for the ants, but they were there. Dining-the food was really wonderful! The breakfast was good-normal options like omelets, sausage, bacon, eggs, and continental items and cereal. The lunch buffet had a lot of choices and was good. Dinner was fabulous! Beach party buffet was probably our least favorite, but still a great spread. Our favorite restaurant was The Verandah which was nice because you didn’t need reservations for that one. This restaurant is the most romantic one my husband and I have been to-it screams romance! The choices were so good-I had lamb and on Thursdays all of the restaurants have lobster so we got lobster tail there as well. Everything was absolutely wonderful! I cannot stress just how great the food was. Le Gourmet was really good and beautiful inside. The Bayside restaurant was really romantic as well and I again had rack of lamb, delicious! This is a pasta restaurant and I got the bleu cheese sauce which was so heavenly. My husband got the bolognese sauce which he loved but I didn’t care for nearly as well as my own. We never ate at Calabash which is the patio where the lunch buffet is served-and it is not a buffet at night. We just liked eating in the air conditioning when possible. The service everywhere was top notch! Our water glasses were NEVER empty the entire time we were there, really! Activities- I have to say, this is a perfect place for people who like a lot to do, or just want to relax on the beach all day or by the pool. The excursions that are included are really fun. Please do Dunn’s River Falls it is indescribable-really a must do trip. We also did the catamaran (booze cruise) this was pretty fun-and you got all the rum punch you could drink. The watersports guys were very helpful and courteous. Pool- nice and clean, and the floats were a huge plus Beach-nice, big enough for me for sure, and always kept clean. There is a beach grill and a beach bar which were also great pluses. Entertainment-their “Heat” band was really good. We were usually not up very late, so can’t comment on the patio disco. The piano bar was also a neat escape. Spa- My husband and I upgraded our complimentary massages for the full-body. This was well worth it and the best massage I have ever had. However, it’s not really a “spa” atmosphere, more of a salon and the room is bright, not dim. I also got a pedicure, which was not US spa quality, but nice to have my feet looking pretty again. This place is fabulous-if you are looking for a really good AI resort, stop looking you have found it!
