Enchanting Honeymoon

09/27/2006   The Honeymoon at the Hilton Waikoloa Viallge was amazing. They had awesome shopping, food and amenities! The Japanese artwork and statues beautifully decorated every inch of the hallways along the path from one part of the hotel to the other. They also had a boat that took you from one part of the hotel to the other. The landscape was gorgeous and they also had amazing ocean views from many hotel rooms (which we were able to expereince from ours)! It allowed us to see the sunset every night. The Hilton had waterfall spas, waterslides, snorkeling/ kayaking and swimming with the dolphins all at the hotel! Outside of the hotel, Hawaii, Hawaii is so interesting to explore. It has nine different climates and terrains. It is certainly an experience like no other! You can make it around the whole island in a day, but to really see everything it has to offer in depth, it is best to spend a couple of days at each of the famous things on the island. (I highly recommend a helicopter ride:)!) Everyone is so courteous and laid back there. Theer is no doubt that any couple who goes there on tehir honeymoon will have a fabulously romantic, relaxing and unique experience!

Honeymoon at the Hilton Waikoloa Village, Big Island, Kauai

07/26/2006   Hilton Waikoloa Village, Waikoloa, Big Island of Hawaii: grade=A+. When we got to the hotel, Hilton Vacation Club had screwed up and cancelled our reservation! The hotel was nearly completely booked for the rest of the summer, but they got us a room for the week due to another cancellation. Our room was in the Lagoon Towers, and it was perfect. Our balcony overlooked the dolphin area and we had a partial ocean view. All of the restaurants at the resort are amazing, but we particularly liked the Japanese restaurant, Imani, and the steak/seafood restaurant, The Provision Company (make a reservation for sunset, you will not be disappointed!). It is a little expensive to drink at the resort, so we would sometimes make the drive to Kona for a few drinks (30-minute drive) or take the hotel shuttle to Roy’s down the road at the King’s Shops. We usually ended up finishing out the night at the Malolo Lounge at the resort. Great service, fun stuff to do, the lagoon is totally cool. Just be aware – there is no real beach at the resort, just a lagoon beach which is still very nice and sunny. An ocean beach can be accessed right down the highway. Kohala Spa at the Hilton Waikoloa Village: grade=D.I wanted to make it clear that the hotel is great, but the spa at the hotel is sub-par. This is disappointing considering the amount of money we spent on services there. We immediately booked a couple’s seaside cabana massage for later in the week. After the first day, we both booked a Tropical Recovery Wrap because we fried our backs while snorkeling. My wrap was okay, but not spectacular. I was really cold in the treatment room. After I was done, the lady that did the wrap said the steam room was not working and told me I should sit out on the lanai with the stuff on me still, to open my pores. Let me tell you, it is really bizarre laying on a sun chair, in nothing but a towel, with goop all over you, with nude women getting in an out of a hot tub right there. DH’s wrap was NOT good. The regular person to do it called in sick, so a person with NO experience did his. The worst part for DH – it was a guy. He freaked out and, to be polite, went through with it. But with a wrap, you are nude. He was not happy. I convinced him to stick with our massage appointment for Thursday. Thursday rolled around and, although we SPECIFICALLY requested two female masseuses, we got one guy and one girl. DH was pissed! We are both more comfortable with women, but apparently, there are not two females available. I took the guy and, although the massage was fine, I was not as relaxed. One tip – if you book the seaside cabana massage, book it in the morning. That little tent gets HOT! Oh, and the two people that did our massages (Judy Ann and Josh I think) talked to each other non-stop and even got into some heavy political/religious discussion. I mean, shut the heck up, right?! Save your money and spend it at a spa on another island or at another resort.
