The water…not what you drink (although I’m suspect) but the lagoon here has thousands of sea cucumbers. They’re harmless but totally gross, large slimy dark cucumber-shaped sea creatures that litter the lagoon surrounding Vahine. The hotel doesn’t clean the water where guest’s swim… not kill… they don’t gently sweep these things out or in a more remote area of the property to live. You try to walk out into the water and you are walking on hundreds of these slimy things, your foot will go thru them. Absolutely disgusting. When I say thousands on the property, I mean it, in the water. Our last full day there, the owner was coming, so the manager, who was a jerk, started cleaning up the lagoon, not the sea cucumbers but the trash in front of the hotel: boxes, glass and plastic bottles, cardboard, coconuts, mental cans… they sent on of the employees into the water with a kayak to pile on the retrieved trash.
