Real Honeymoon Stories ~ Total Disasters |
5 Star Resort - Very Poor Food Quality |
| Royal Davui Resort |
FOOD - The treatment from staff, health standards, quality of food was far from 5 star quality. Many of the basic items such as ‘fresh’ fruit, coffee, certain types of alcohol and fruit juices for cocktails were not available for large periods of time. When we asked when all the fresh seafood would be made available to us we were told by the staff ‘don’t you know it’s hard to catch’ and similar remarks.

SERVICE & HYGIENE - Every meal that we ordered was cooked incorrectly or was not what we ordered. The staff who were serving the food lacked the basic hygiene that would be expected at such an establishment. Staff were seen on numerous occasions wiping their noses and handling food, coughing and sneezing over the food prior to it being presented to people at their tables. The plates, cutlery and glassware were dirty constantly, and we frequently had to send them back and ask for clean items to be brought to us. When staff would be asked to assist us with some of our complaints, they would constantly respond with remarks like “HA, WHAT, WHAT DO YOU WANT”. The general attitude from the staff at the resort was absolutely disgusting and totally unacceptable, especially considering that it was a 5 star resort. Room service was not made available to us when we requested it, even for items as simple as a bottle of champagne. (Which I note was meant to be presented to us upon arrival as part of our package, and was not done so.) MISLEADING STATEMENTS The Royal Davui states on its website and brochure that it has the best selection of seafood all year round. Except a small selection of fish, we were offered no seafood at all. It would appear that this statement has the purpose of simply drawing people to the hotel without the intention of actually providing what they have advertised. There were no mosquito nets made available to us, like what was displayed on the website and in the brochure. Ultimately this meant that we had to rely on the air conditioner and were unable to enjoy the pleasant Fiji weather that we had come to experience. |
HEALTH - The food was constantly soaked in canola oil or coconut milk, making it extremely fatty and unsatisfying. Further there were NEVER and salads or vegetables on the menu to cater for a basic healthy dietary balance. This resulted in us both getting Diarrhea for a continuous period throughout the trip. Due to the poor standard of fruit and the total lack of vegetables that were available, we had to charter a boat to go to the mainland to purchase some. This activity alone cost us a further $190.00 an expense we should definitely never had to incur at a five star resort, as everything should have been provided. Honeymooners from Sydney, Australia. |
