Second Honeymoon Giveaway
October 3, 2008
On this day, Jennifer and Nancy accompanied us to the Limahuli Garden Tour, located about 5 minutes from the hotel. The Garden Tour was a nice treat. We got to see beautiful native plants and flowers and learned a great deal about the history of the plants of Hawaii. I took lots of great pictures since the scenery is very beautiful.
My husband and I got hungry and decided to head over to Kilauea to eat at the Kilauea Fish Market, courtesy of “the list”. This is approximately 30 minutes from out hotel and well worth the drive. I had a filet of white fish with rice and macaroni salad while my husband had the famous fish wrap. The fish on both plates were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Both were absolutely delicious!
Ideally, we would have headed to the Secret Beach which in Kilauea, but we ran out of time and decided to return to the hotel to get ready since we had reservations to a Luau later on that evening. However, I highly recommend going to the Secret Beach since many locals had recommended it to me.
My husband’s favorite thing to do in Hawaii is to go to Luau’s thus we asked Nancy to make reservations for us at the best Luau of Kauai. She booked us at Smith’s Luau which is located past the city of Kapaa. We have been to several of the Hawaiian Islands and have seen many Luau’s but this one was, by far, the best. Located on spectacular grounds, there are magnificent gardens, ponds and beautiful peacocks running free. It offers all the basic traditional customs you find at every Luau: the raising of the cooked pig from underground, a delicious buffet with an enormous array of Hawaiian cuisine and live music during dinner where they bring up guests to embarrass them “claming” to teach them how to dance Hawaiian style.
What I was most impressed withwas the live show after dinner. It displayed dances from every culture that has ever influenced Hawaii, thus we enjoyed traditional dances from places such as China, Japan and Tahiti. The dancers were fantastic and the visual effects were of superior quality. It was a very complete show that left us in awe. We really enjoyed this Luau and recommend it to anyone that plans on visiting Kauai.
