Hanalei Colony Resort

Kauai Honeymoon Resort

Honeymooner's Choice Award - Best Hidden Gems!

Unspoiled, Unplugged, Unforgettable

Truly a Hidden Gem on the Far North end, this resort has personality. As to location, well the northern Kauai road, Kuhio (56) ends a few miles down, so this is the quiet, more artsy and layback side of the island. While there after dinner one night, I was approached by a man with his family in the car wanting to know where they were. Hanalei ResortI smiled and softly informed him, “Why, you are in Paradise, can’t you tell?” He was lost, so with a nod of appreciation, he headed south for the Princeville Hotel.

What you will find at this resort is very personal service, lots of attention to your needs whether it be your wedding ceremony, reception and guests or privacy on your honeymoon. Nancy Guthrie, the resort wedding/event manager is one of those people who lives personal service, especially for her wedding and honeymoon couples. The resort has only 48 rooms, looks a bit 80's from the outside, but the rooms we visited were all newly renovated with wood floors, great furnishings, and the ocean view rooms have a spectacular view of the Kaua'i coast. In fact, they are right on it, not hundreds of feet away.

You have a choice of wedding ceremony sites, and for those who insist on a beach wedding, not a problem. Just check out the pictures here. Special features include meals on the beach and your own special romantic cabana.

We did have the great fortune to also enjoy a couple's spa treatment at the Hanalei Day Spa. From our greeting from Jasmine, to our time spent with owner Darci Frankel, to the amazing treatments provided by Keith and Shoshanaa, we both left with a visible "glow". Hawaii Honeymoon ResortAfter a quick shower, we were the guests of Imad and Yarrow Beydoun, owners of the Mediterranean Gourmet Restaurant. Whether you stay at the Hanalei Colony or not, if you go to Kaua'i, dining at the Mediterranean is an absolute must. Hands down best cuisine we had on the island ever.

A visit to the Na Pali Art Gallery and coffee house on grounds is also highly recommended. Owned and operated by William, you not only get a great coffee late, but some exceptional island art and jewelry. I surprised my wife with a beautifully designed and near perfect set of Tahitian Pearl earrings. William is helpful, sociable, knowledgeable and honest. We highly recommend you check the store out. We will expound more on this resort, the spa and restaurant at a later time, but know that this is truly a "Hidden Gem".

Best Aspects: Location, privacy and personal attention, professional wedding planner, staff, spa, restaurant, jewelry, art, ambiance of peace & serenity, just 5 minutes from famous Ke'e Beach Park.
